Where Can you Build an ADU in Woodland Hills?

An ADU in woodland hills can exist on any property zoned for single or multi-family use as long as it has less than four existing residential units.

How Big Can You Build an ADU in Woodland Hills?

A detached ADU whether a garage conversion or new construction cannot exceed 1,200 SQFT. If you plan to build you ADU attached to the property it can be no larger than 50 percent of the existing home’s living space as long as it does not exceed 1,200 SQFT. So if you have a 3,000 SQFT house you can still only add 1,200 SQFT to it for use as an ADU. If you have a 1,000 SQFT house you cannot build an attached ADU any larger than 500 SQFT.

What Design Limitations are There for a Woodland Hills ADU?

The quality of the materials used for the exterior must match the existing home, the style does not have to match. Woodland Hills might require landscaping or other privacy measures to be installed by the homeowner in order to ensure the privacy of both the residents and their neighbors.

Is my Woodland Hills Lot Size Large Enough for an ADU?

A lot needs to be 6,000 SQFT in order to qualify for any ADU construction or conversion. With a permit from the zoning administrator, you can have that size reduced to 5,000 SQFT.
